Edward Y M Zhu Elected to 2011 Person of CEIBS Alumni
Shanghai China, December 2, the “2011 Person of CEIBS Alumni” award was presented at CEIBS Annual New Year’s concert. Mr. Edward Zhu received this esteemed award in virtue of his management innovation and continuous support of CEIBS. In 2009 Mr. Zhu was also recognized with the “Outstanding Contribution Award at CEIBS Distinguished Alumni Awards”.
 
Two months of evaluation were taken before Mr. Zhu was named in the final shortlist of 11 leaders and he was elected as the “2011 Person of the Year” by CEIBS. Other runner-ups came from varied industries, such as Yang Lan, Chairman of Sun Media Group and Feng lun, the Chairman of Vantone Holdings.
 
In the past year, Edward Zhu’s Chic Group of Companies made significant & positive contributions to CEIBS; including donating a BRIX 12 restaurant which launched its official opening at CEIBS. The restaurant has provided great convenience to the CEIBS faculty and students and restaurant profits are turned back to CEIBS. In addition, over the past decade, the CHIC Group has invested RMB 4.966 million and sent 123 employees to CEIBS for further study. Edward Zhu taught EVA Finance course as a guest lecturer and attended many roundtable meetings and management forums organized by CEIBS.
 
Mr. Zhu donated one million RMB to CEIBS education development foundation in 2008 to improve and maintain the school’s ability to retain high-calibre teachers and employees; improve its facilities, and help stage even more informative academic activities and cultural events. Edward also collaborated with the CEIBS MBA program to invest RMB436,000 into its Leadership Development Fund (CHIC LDF) attracting international inter-disciplinary talent to CEIBS and inviting them to become employees of the CHIC Group after graduation.
 
The company developed rapidly under Edward’s administration. In October of 2011, the Jiangjin project was classified as Chongqing Key Demonstration IRUP project. In Xiao Xian of Anhui, CHIC’s project was declared the National Comprehensive Reform Experimental Zone, which includes 150,000 Mu yellow peach orchard and fruit processing base (the largest in the world) and a 5A tourism town.
